It was a very shocking moment for the United States of America.” “I have learned to be more respectful to my country…” “I’ve taken more pride in my community…” “On September 11th, I felt that America would be changed forever.” “I felt angry that someone would do something like that, to want to kill so many Americans just because of a religion.” “My reaction to the attack of September 11th was one in disbelief! How could someone to something of this magnitude intentionally! I do feel like I have to watch around my family now- for their safety. I’m more aware of things going on around me.” “Some people are wrong and do wrong things, but sometimes, you have to forget the past and work on the future.” “I thought how could anybody be so cruel?” “I watched the television and felt I was watching a movie. I will never forget those horrific images!” “I was very shocked and wanted to call up all my family members to make sure they were okay.” “I have become a stronger person and do not take my country for granted like I used to.” “I felt bad for the people who died and for the people who lost loved ones that day.” “I felt very sad because people lost their lives…” “At first I was shocked and scared at the same time…” “I was upset and didn’t understand why people would do this…?” “I felt destroyed. I thought how could somebody do such a thing? I felt bad for all the people who didn’t make it out of the burning buildings…” “I came home from class at Camden Military Academy and went online. We had watched the events during classes, but I still could make reservations at the restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center, Windows on the World. It was really eerie and spooky. The next day it was all offline.” “I’ve become closer to my family and friends and care for them more.” “At first, I was confused because I wasn’t sure what had happened…” “I felt like I had been punched in the stomach- I couldn’t believe someone could do something this evil to innocent people.”
