The HL HUNLEY was sunk on Feb.17,1864. There were nine brave men on the HL HUNLEY. Eight to crank the propeller and one to steer . For more than one-hundred years, history told of the nine brave men who disappeared. They haven't found the ninth man yet. There was a monument built for the men.  Of the nine men on the HUNLEY, only one man that was on board had on dog tags Union Soldier Ezra Chamberlin.
