William Gilmore Simms was born 1806 in Charleston, SC. William became famous because he wrote plays, poetry, essays and a lot more. He also wrote romances and here are some that he wrote. The Yemassee in 1835, The Partisan in 1835, Guy Rivers, The Lily and the Totem, The Golden Christmas in 1852, Richard Hurdis in 1838 and Voltmeier in 1869. During the Civil War Mr. Simms wrote Paddy McGann in 1863.William Simms wrote 72 novels. After the Civil War and his death not many people took interest in his work. William Gilmore Simms died on 1870.
