This web site was created by 8th Grade
students from Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
We created the "Historic Sites of Rock Hill" web site to celebrate Rock
Hill's 150 Sesquicentennial Birthday. Rock Hill began as a railroad
town in 1852 as the railroad transported cotton across the state and into
North Carolina. The name "Rock Hill" is said to have come from the flint
rock the railroad crew picked through to lay the track. Why not start
at the Railroad link to begin your journey through a great historic Carolina
town!
