Interviews Our interview with Wilhelmina Dearybury: When I asked Wilhelmina, a Cowpens resident and local historian, about the murals on some of the main street buildings in Cowpens, she replied, "It was by an artist named Ralph Waldrop out of Columbia, S.C.," though we later found out a man named Thomas Parham was also involved. She went on saying that it was done in 1985 on 6 different buildings for a total cost of around $9,000. It was made to be the Minute Men from the Revolutionary War aiming at opposing forces. It took four models- Johnny Lipston, Tyrone Courtney, who was the mayor at the time, Robert Scotters, and William Dearybury. Tyrone Courtney thought it would promote the history of Cowpens. She finished by saying, "It took around 2 months."
